Carentoir: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

La Ferme du Monde, a wildlife park, is located in Carentoir in the Morbihan département of Brittany. It is home to 400 farm animals from five continents in a wooded, 25-hectare park where they roam freely in a near-natural setting.

Nature and Trails

The Circuit des Reflets de l'Aff starts in Carentoir. The 13-kilometre, moderately difficult hiking trail takes around three hours to complete and passes through a wooded section towards Manoir du Mur.

On two wheels, the 32-kilometre VP 3 – Circuit de Carentoir route takes you through the natural surroundings and religious history of Carentoir and the surrounding area.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste du Temple is located in Carentoir. The parish of Karantoe is mentioned in 1182 in an apocryphal document by Conan IV confirming donations in favour of the Templars in Brittany. The church also contains the funerary statue known as “le saint dormant: Templier”, dating from the last quarter of the 13th century; it is protected as an object.

The Château de la Ville Quéno, the Eglise Saint-Marcoul and the Chapelle Saint-Jacques are located in the immediate vicinity of Carentoir. The Château de la Ville Quéno was the seat of a local lordship that remained in the same family from the 16th century onwards. The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Fondelienne was built in the 17th century.

The ancient site of Dolmen de Roherman dit "Niche à Gabineau" is located near Carentoir. The Moulin de la Fosse also dates from the 16th century and is a functioning watermill.

Location and Transport

The nearest railway station to Carentoir is in Redon, 20 kilometres away. Access to the RN24, the transport route between Rennes, Vannes and Lorient, is via Guer, around 15 minutes from Carentoir.
