Cast: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Cast lies on the southern slope of the Montagnes Noires, in the centre of the Porzay plain and opposite the Baie de Douarnenez. Here, different landscapes meet between the hills, the plain and the coastal bay.
Culture and History
The Chasse de Saint Hubert is a group of figures dating from the 16th century and was classified as a historic monument in 1914. The parish church of Saint Jérôme also dates from the 16th century and houses a group of figures consisting of at least fifteen figures. The Chapelle Saint Gildas likewise features several architectural elements from the 16th century.
The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Quillidoaré stands on an extensive landscaped site with a calvary and a fountain. Its main window has three lancets depicting scenes from the Crucifixion. The Pardon of the Chapelle de Quillidoaré takes place on the first Sunday in August and is known as the great Pardon.
Pardons are celebrated at the Chapelle Saint Gildas on the second Sunday in May and the third Sunday in July. The water of the Fontaine Saint Gildas was traditionally considered beneficial for madness, fever, rabies, headaches and toothache, as well as dog bites. In Pors Clos, architectural elements of old Cast have been preserved, including an old bread oven. The Breton language and the traditions of Cast connect the town with the Pays Glazik.
