Bohars is home to the Chapelle de Loguillo, the oldest building in the town. The chapel was founded by the lords of Kerguiziau and rebuilt in the 16th century by the Du Chatel family. Its furnishings include a polychrome wooden statue of the Virgin and Child, known as Notre Dame de Loguillo, dating from the 16th century, as well as statues from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Culture and History
The Motte of Bohars ar c’hoat is an octagonal earthwork measuring approximately 32 to 33 metres in diameter, with ditches around 3 metres deep.
The Moulin Neuf was built on the Penfeld before the French Revolution; here, the river forms the boundary between Bohars and Brest. The Moulin Neuf is one of the last mills still in operation in the Finistère département.
The multicultural Espace Roz Valan in Bohars hosts performances, concerts and evening events throughout the year.
Food and Drink
From Bohars selects cheeses from local producers and experienced affineurs. The company makes homemade cheese creations, including flavoured fresh goat’s milk cheeses and Brie with apricot and honey. From Bohars also offers tastings, evenings and workshops.
Events and Trails
In 2025, the La Boharsienne event included a walking/Cani-hiking event, children’s competitions, 5- and 10-kilometre races, and a trail run.
The “Au fil de la Penfeld” circular hiking trail is located in the municipality of Bohars and passes through several municipalities. The Bibus public transport service offers more frequent connections in the hospital area; direct connections to the interchange points at Place de Strasbourg, Le Bergot and Place des FFI improve links to the rest of the network.
