Bolazec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Bolazec is a member of the Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique. To the north of the village lies part of the 27-hectare Corn ar Harz moorland heath; there are springs there. Corn ar Harz is designated as a ZNIEFF area to protect its biodiversity. The Circuit pédestre des 5 ponts begins in the village centre. It is an easy, 10-kilometre hiking trail with a duration of approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. It runs along the Rudalveget and offers panoramic views along the way.

Culture

The Notre-Dame et Saint-Guénaël church in Bolazec has five stained-glass windows dating from the last quarter of the 19th century. They were listed as protected objects on 15 November 1983. The parish church of Bolazec was rebuilt in 1865 in the Neo-Gothic style. Its bell tower is built in the Trégor style and dates from the 17th century; it consists of a tower with a round stair turret. The parish church is jointly dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Saint Guénaël, and its interior floor is paved with slate slabs.

Other traces of Bolazec's cultural history include a monumental cross from the 16th century, which was remodelled in 1893. The cemetery calvary may date from the 15th century.

History

South of the hamlet of Helles lies Castel Montafilant, a partially preserved medieval motte-and-bailey castle. The motte measures 25 metres in diameter and 12 metres in height. Its stone fortifications are partially preserved, as is the deep ditch to the north, which is still extant.

The rectory of Bolazec was built in 1829; the pillars of its gate bear the year 1844. Of the former Hilvern watermill, the miller's house, the mill channel and the site of the mill race remain.

The Manoir de Kerroué is a château in the vicinity of Bolazec. In the wider surrounding region are the Château du Mur and the Château de Rosanbo, both châteaux, as well as the Abbaye du Relec, a historic site.

The peaks in the wider surrounding region include Ménez Fanteu, Roc ar Feunteun and Roc'h Trédudon. Ménez Keryéven is classified there as a mountain.
