Trails

The GR34 coastal path runs through Saint-Quay-Portrieux, connecting the fishing port, the seaside resort and the wild coast. From the Pointe du Sémaphore, it offers panoramic views over the entire Bay of Saint-Brieuc; from the same point, the coastal view stretches from the Bréhat Archipelago to Cap Fréhel.

Port and sea

The Port d'Armor is a deep-water port accessible around the clock for fishing and recreational boating. Its inauguration in 1990 helped make scallop fishing the hallmark of Saint-Quay-Portrieux. The Pôle Nautique Sud-Goëlo offers kayaking, windsurfing, dinghy sailing and catamaran activities for beginners, advanced participants and those looking to discover these sports, for adults and children.

Every year in April, Saint-Quay-Portrieux alternates with Erquy and Paimpol as the venue for the Fête de la Coquille Saint-Jacques. The programme includes trips out to sea, concerts and tastings.

History and culture

From 1612 onwards, ships from Portrieux and Binic sailed from the Bay of Saint-Brieuc to Newfoundland to fish for cod. The Saint-Quay-Portrieux discovery trail comprises 16 information panels. The Moulin Saint-Michel was built in 1830, operated until 1900 and was restored in 2009.

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Garde was built as a rotunda in 1828 and was associated with the vows made by sailors and their families after long voyages.
