Plessix-Balisson: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Plessix-Balisson is a former castle town built on an old fortification. Baluçon Castle was built in 1150 by Lord Geoffroy Baluçon. It was triangular and stood on a hill where two streams met, supplying its moats. Today, only a well and a few remnants of the castle remain. The village houses have individual names, including La Juridiction, L’Auditoire and La Petite Halle.

Culture

The Church of Saint-Pierre dates from the beginning of the 20th century. It contains a 16th-century statue of the Virgin Mary with the Child. The church parish includes a granite holy-water font from the 15th century, a cemetery, a yew tree and two crosses.

Circular Trail

The Circuit de Baluçon is an easy, 2.5 km circular trail that takes 45 minutes. It starts at the car park on the Route de St-Jacut and is marked in yellow.

Landscape

The former Ménéguen windmill offers views of Beaussais Bay.

Arts and Crafts

In 2015, five workshops for artists and craftspeople were established in Plessix-Balisson. The artists’ workshops provide artists and craftspeople with spaces to produce and exhibit their work.
