Culture and history

The Chapelle Saint-Cado was built in 1758 and restored in 1815. The Église Saint-Milliau was built at the end of the 15th or beginning of the 16th century and was listed as a historic monument on 18 January 1921. It is open to visitors on request to the municipal administration and upon presentation of proof of identity; guided tours are possible in July and August.

Notre-Dame de Keraudy was originally founded by the Knights Hospitaller of Saint John of Jerusalem. The winged altarpiece of Keraudy, dedicated to the Holy Trinity and the Annunciation, is an example of Breton Baroque. The hamlet of Keraudy is characterised by traditional stone houses surrounding the church.

An extensive renovation of the Chapelle Christ by the municipality was completed in 2010. The Menhirs du Clandy, also known as Menhirs du Rest, form a group of two to three menhirs near a 17th-century cross in Ploumilliau; only one menhir remains standing.

Nature and trails

Ploumilliau has 1.5 kilometres of coastline. Several hiking trails are open to the public and regularly maintained.

The Circuit de Penn ar Wern is an easy circular hiking trail measuring 8.4 kilometres. It starts at Notre-Dame de Keraudy and is marked in yellow.

The Hentoù Kozh association offered hikes for holidaymakers on Thursdays at 4 p.m. in summer; the starting point was the church square.

Events and traditions

The Circuit des Chapelles takes place every summer from 15 July to 15 August. In Ploumilliau, the church of Keraudy and the Chapelle Christ take part. The Pardon de Saint-Cado takes place on the last Sunday in April; the procession leads to the associated spring.
