Lanmodez: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Lanmodez tells its story through striking details: the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Kermassac’h was founded as early as 1463 and rebuilt in 1753. A window in this chapel, created in 1990 by the glass master Budet, commemorates the battle of 2 February 1591.

Culture

The Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Nouvelle in Lanmodez dates from 1736. Near the chapel of the same name is the Fontaine Notre-Dame-de-Boan; it is credited with healing children suffering from diseased or underdeveloped lower limbs.

The parish church of Saint-Maudez in Lanmodez is built of slate and granite and dates from the 18th century. The Moulin de Keraniou is considered the last and oldest mill in Lanmodez; it is visible as a maritime landmark from the fairway between the northwest of Île de Bréhat and the mouth of the Trich.

The Allée couverte de Coalen is a Neolithic megalithic monument. The Allée couverte de l’île Coalen lies in the tidal zone and is flooded at high tide. A small priory of Bégard Abbey was established on Île Maudez from the 12th century until the French Revolution; the island’s large fish trap dates back at least to the 15th century.

Coast and trails

From Traezh Coalen beach, you can walk across to Île Coalen at low tide and see the remains of a dolmen there. The Circuit des huîtres runs from Crec’h Jord to Île à Bois and is 8 km long.

The new trail from Beg Mélard leads from the coast to the town centre through a vegetable-growing area and across a small plateau. The Boucle des 3 Chapelles passes through the hedgerows typical of the Trégor region, with walls, hamlets and former oyster-farming sites, and also leads to Île Castel Yar, which is accessible at low tide. There are birdwatching points along the route all year round.

Food and drink

In the hamlet of Min-ar-Goas in Lanmodez, the first artisanal mussel-farming area in the Côtes-d’Armor department was established in 1980; several mussel-farming businesses operated there.

Huîtres Chaumard offers an oyster bar and tastings in summer from 15 June to 15 September, Tuesday to Sunday. The Marché estival de Lanmodez takes place on Sunday mornings and offers organic honey, organic vegetables, oysters, wicker baskets, fish and chips, African dishes, paracord bracelets and textile creations.
