Saint-Gouéno: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Saint-Gouéno, devotion to Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs dates back to the 14th century. The Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs chapel was completely rebuilt in 1893 on a rocky promontory, offering views across the entire Le Mené region. The choir contains a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary from the former chapel.

The VTT route No. 36 Saint-Gilles–Saint-Gouéno also connects the landscape with this historic site: it runs along small roads and paths, offers various views of Mont Bel Air, and provides an opportunity to discover the Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs chapel.

According to René-Yves Creston’s classification, Saint-Gouéno belongs to the area of the Coiffe tradition of the Le Mené group. Near the village of Ville-ès-Geais, there is also a fortified spur, a defensive structure from the early Middle Ages.

Bel Air Mountain is located in the surroundings of Saint-Gouéno. Its connection to VTT route No. 36 Saint-Gilles–Saint-Gouéno is reflected in the various views of Mont Bel Air offered along the route.

Places Near the Town

At the exit of Saint-Gouéno on the D76 is the Saint-Gouéno body of water. There are picnic tables by the water.

Historic Surroundings

Abbaye de Boquen is a monastery in the surroundings of Saint-Gouéno. In the wider regional area is Église Saint-Nicolas, a church. Also located there are Abbaye de Saint-Aubin-des-Bois, a historic site, and Hunaudaye Castle, also a historic site.

Event

The Course de Cote de Saint Goueno was scheduled as a national hill climb race from 29 to 31 May 2026.
