Saint-Connan: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

At Étang-Neuf, trout fishing with fly and/or bait is possible depending on the period. Eight fishing jetties are available from the shore; alternatively, fishing is possible from rental boats provided on site.

Nature and water

Étang du Bourg covers nine hectares and is located in a protected nature zone with wetland plants, waterfowl and dragonflies.

Culture

Saint-Corentin Church was built in the 19th century to replace an earlier building. It preserves stained-glass windows made by the Rault workshop in Rennes.

The Chapelle du Logou, officially called Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs, dates partly from the 15th century and was restored in 1771. During the Second World War, including in July 1944, it served as a weapons cache for resistance fighters.

The Livandour Gallery permanently displays a sculpture that earned its creator the Grand Prix de Rome in 1924.

Remembrance

The Musée de la Résistance en Argoat presents the history of the Second World War and the Resistance in five exhibition rooms and a screening room. It also presents the history of the Maquis of Plésidy, which was established near Saint-Connan in early July 1944. The museum is a single-storey building; its facilities and exhibition design are fully accessible to wheelchair users.

Every year, a memorial ceremony is held at the memorial stele of the Maquis de Coatmallouen around the anniversary of the attack on 27 July 1944.

Coat Malouen Abbey is located in the neighbouring municipality of Kerpert, is historically closely connected with Saint-Connan and can be visited free of charge all year round.

Townscape

The centre of Saint-Connan features stone houses, fountains and granite walls that form a typical Breton ensemble.
