Plouisy reveals its distinctive features in concrete details: Its notable facets include historic churches and château buildings as well as the 13-hectare Champ de Tir nature area.

Culture and History

The Chapelle Saint-Antoine has a 16th-century portal with a large fleurón and two tall pinnacles. This portal was registered by decree of 22 February 1926.

The Église Saint-Pierre also preserves different construction phases: The southern transept arm dates from the first half of the 15th century, while the southern aisle is dated to 1566.

The Château de Kernabat comprises a main residential building with a recessed side wing, a chapel, outbuildings, a dovecote, an entrance gate, a mail court and terraced gardens. The Château de Kernabat, together with its outbuildings and dovecote, as well as the plots containing the gardens, terraces and the walled mail court, was registered by decree of 22 October 1997. The Manoir de Kérisac was also registered by decree of 22 February 1926.

The history of the area also includes the Maquis de Kerprigent: It comprised around 350 men and was associated with numerous acts of sabotage and ambushes. A memorial is dedicated to the Maquis de Kerprigent.

Nature and Trails

The Champ de Tir is a 13-hectare nature area open to the public. It welcomes hikers, mountain bikers, runners, picnickers and nature enthusiasts. Elevated walkways lead through a marshy area with diverse habitats. An orientation map is available in the car park at the entrance to the Champ de Tir.

The circular Circuit des moulins du ruisseau du Plouez et du château de Kernabat trail is 8 km long.

In Brittany, the Étoile des Marais is a rare and threatened pioneer species. It seeks out open, wet habitats such as the edges of ponds and pools, temporarily flooded or drying-out areas, old paths and ditches.
