Jugon-Les-Lacs: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Jugon-les-Lacs is a Petite Cité de Caractère® framed by two lakes. Between water, historic buildings and vibrant local culture, this Breton town presents a diverse character.

Water and Nature

The Étang de Jugon covers 70 hectares and is now at the heart of the municipality’s tourism and leisure activities. Today, the water in Jugon-les-Lacs is used for leisure, relaxation and fishing.

In daylight, dragonflies, grey herons, mallards, kingfishers, otters, eels, pike and carp can be observed along the shores of the Étang de Jugon. The Maison Pêche et Nature des Côtes d'Armor presents a permanent exhibition on aquatic habitats centred around a real fish ladder. There are also tracking games on the banks of the pond or in the forest, introductory fishing experiences for children, predatory fish angling with artificial lures, and activities focused on identifying and preparing edible wild plants.

Active Experiences

The Tour du Lac de Jugon circular route is a moderately difficult 17 km hiking trail that takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. The Station Sports Nature offers mountain biking, e-bikes, sailing, archery, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, tree climbing, orienteering, pedal boat trips and rowing boat trips.

History and Townscape

In the 11th century, a castle was built on a rocky promontory between the Arguenon to the west and the Jugon to the east. Several landmark buildings date from later centuries: the Maison de la Tête Noire is a 16th-century half-timbered house, and the church of Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Etienne dates from the 14th, 17th and 19th centuries. It is open exclusively as part of guided tours.

The Hôtel Sevoy was built in 1634 for Jean Sevoy by Maître Charles Lebec and is partially listed as a historic monument. At 10 place du Martray, Arti Z'Artistes presents unique creations by craftspeople.

Market

The Jugon-les-Lacs market takes place on Friday mornings at Place du Martray. From 15 June to 15 September, it is open from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; during the rest of the year, it is open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Local food products are available, including vegetables, fruit, cheese, fish, seafood, galettes, honey, aromatic herbs and other local products.
