In Ploubazlanec, the Tour de Kerroc’h dates from 1873 and overlooks Paimpol Bay. Together with other memorial sites, it brings the maritime history of the Breton coast to life.

Maritime Heritage

The Mur des Disparus commemorates around 120 schooners and 2,000 sailors who went missing during cod-fishing expeditions. The Croix des Veuves served as a lookout point for fishermen’s wives, from which they watched for returning schooners.

The Musée Mémoire d’Islande preserves collections that mostly date from the 19th century. On display are photographs, models, tools, letters, objects and sculptures related to cod fishing.

Chapels and Culture

The Chapelle de Perros-Hamon was built at the end of the 12th century. Its side portal houses ex-votos from the period of Iceland fishing. Throughout the summer, the chapel is opened to the public by local volunteers.

The Chapelle Zant-Ivy was built in the 18th century and welcomes artists from various fields every year, including visual artists, sculptors, painters and photographers. Every summer, the BZH PHOTO festival presents an open-air exhibition at the port of Loguivy-de-la-Mer.

Nature and Sea

The Réserve Paule Lapicque is a protected natural area open to the public, with 11 hectares of natural habitats along the shore of Baie de Launay. Three marked trails can be used to discover its natural habitats. The Réserve Paule Lapicque also organises public nature events, workshops and nature walks.

The Loguivy Kayak de Mer Association (LKM) is dedicated year-round to recreational sea kayaking independently and with respect for the marine environment.

Exhibitions and Encounters

Milmarin is located in the former presbytery of Ploubazlanec. The facility offers interactive, entertaining exhibitions accessible to everyone, as well as activities, events and encounters throughout the year.
