Taden: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Taden, nature observation meets history. La plaine de Taden is a protected area where more than 120 bird species have been observed.

Nature

The “Balade autour de Taden” route leads from the centre of Taden through the countryside, via the Argentel valley, down to the banks of the River Rance. The location given for this route is Parking de la cale de Taden, 22100 Taden.

History

The historic centre of Taden has preserved old buildings, lanes and paths, including the Chemin des Lavandières. The parish church of Saint-Pierre is one of Taden’s six historic monuments. Its complete restoration was finished in 2017; during the work, wall paintings were rediscovered, the oldest examples of which date from the 14th century.

Culture and Architecture

The Manoir de la Grand’Cour has completely preserved its façades from the late 14th century. It includes a tall staircase tower with a watch platform accessible via a spiral staircase. The Manoir de la Grand’Cour is a logis-porche with a vaulted passageway – a design unique among Breton manor houses. On 30 May 1991, it was designated a historic monument.

The ruins of Château de la Garaye preserve sculpted details that may date from the late 15th and early 16th centuries. By decree of 22 July 1920, the ruins were designated a historic monument.

The decorations of the entrance tower and main residential building of Château de la Conninais combine Gothic and Renaissance references and are dated to around the middle of the 16th century. The residential building of Manoir ou sieurie, les Alleux is, despite extensive alterations, a significant example of the distinctive Breton manor-house type “salle basse sous charpente”.

Château de la Ville Huchet is a château in the vicinity of Taden. The St. Catherine Tower, the Governor Tower and the St. Malo Gate are historic sites in the immediate vicinity of Taden.

In the wider regional area around Taden are Plage du Mole, Plage de l’Éventail and Plage Verger, each of them a beach. Île Harbour is an island there.
