Hiking

The Le Puy-Gros hiking loop is a difficult, 16 km circular route with 642 metres of ascent and a stated duration of 4 hours and 30 minutes. It starts and ends in Le Brugeron and is signposted with green PR-PDIPR markings. For this loop, Place de l'église is recommended as a car park.

From Olliergues to Le Brugeron, the D37 runs for 13 km towards Le Brugeron. Le Brugeron has streams with trout, fauna and flora, as well as opportunities for woodland walks and mushroom picking.

Landscape

Puy Gros is a viewpoint located a ten-minute walk from Pas de la Croix on the road between Col du Béal and Le Brugeron.

Culture

The Amis de l’Eglise du Brugeron association occasionally organises public cultural and musical events in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church. The church was rebuilt from 1856 onwards in place of a Romanesque chapel and features Neo-Gothic design.

The Saint-Jean-Baptiste church has two hexagonal side turrets; its nave is covered by a barrel vault with a semicircular arch. It houses three harmoniums. A polychrome statue from the 19th century stands in the central nave.

Winter Sports

The Nordic area at Col de la Loge is connected to the northern Crêtes du Forez area, whose starting point is at Col du Béal. In the regional surroundings of Le Brugeron, the Nordic area at Col de la Loge in La Chambonie offers seven groomed cross-country ski trails for classic skiing and skating between the forests and the high plateaus of the Hautes Chaumes, with lengths ranging from 3 to 17 km.
