Biollet: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Grand Temple at Dhagpo Kundreul Ling is open year-round for self-guided or guided visits. One-hour guided tours introduce visitors to the history and purpose of the temple, as well as its various artworks, including numerous statues, murals depicting the life of Buddha, and mandalas.

Culture and history

The Musée de l’école d’antan recreates two classrooms from the 1940s and 1950s and offers free self-guided visits for individuals and groups. Visitors can look for former pupils in old class photographs and search for familiar names in old enrolment books. Upstairs, they can also discover the teacher’s room.

The Romanesque Église Saint-Pierre de Biollet dates from the 11th century and has a basilica-style layout. Its carved capitals have no equivalent in the Auvergne.

Nature and trails

The Temple Bouddhiste circular trail is an easy 4 km loop taking around 1 hour and 15 minutes. In good weather, Le Chemin du Temple offers views of the Chaîne des Puys and the Massif du Sancy, both part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The 18.8 km Le Chemin du Temple circular trail passes close to Biollet’s Buddhist temple and the Étang de Cheix.

Water and cuisine

Carp and trout fishing is possible at the Étang du Cheix during the day; there is also a fishing jetty.

At the Étang du Cheix, Les Ateliers du Temple offer visitors savoury and sweet crêpes, as well as hot and cold drinks. Visitors can also discover chocolate and candles made by the monastic and lay residents of the community.
