Blavozy: Holiday apartments and houses

The PR 699 hiking trail, Le sentier de l'Arkose, begins in Blavozy and is 10.4 km long; the walking time is approximately three hours. Those who choose Blavozy as a destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Nature

The trail passes the arkose quarries of Blavozy and runs along the heights beside the Sumène; at the same time, it leads to the arkose quarries of Blavozy and the village of Salins. The PR 699 runs along the banks of the Sumène and uses several crossings, including a footbridge and other bridges. In the village of Salins, a meeting place and fountains are mentioned as points along the PR 699 hiking trail.

Culture

The Mémoires d’arkose collection in Blavozy can be viewed on site or borrowed during the library’s opening hours. The PR 698 trail, Le chemin des Escaïnes, passes through the old village of Blavozy and showcases buildings made from local arkose stone. To explore Blavozy’s local history, it provides an accompanying booklet, explanatory panels, historical photographs, and some traditional names for the “escaïnes”.

Blavozy contains traces of Gallo-Roman stone quarrying; arkose was used for Roman columns and later, during the Middle Ages, for crosses and churches. Arkose from Blavozy continues to be used in modern villas and in the restoration of historic monuments.

Leisure

The Écurie de la Bruyère equestrian centre and pony club in Blavozy offer riding lessons from the age of four for all levels and different interests. The Écurie de la Bruyère also offers trail rides and two- to five-day riding treks accompanied by a qualified ATE.
