Permission to build the keep of Château de Poinsac was granted in 1390. A room in the keep of Château de Poinsac preserves a painted ceiling from the 15th century. Château de Poinsac has been classified as a historic monument by decree of 6 April 1987.

Château de la Tour-Daniel controlled the crossing of the Loire and the road to Le Puy and was part of a defensive network that had existed since the early Middle Ages. The Église Saint-Georges de Coubon had been a dependency of the Abbaye Saint-Chaffre du Monastier since 1090 and was extended in 1834.

Château de Coubon was built in 1887 by the distinguished Bourbonnais architect Jean-Bélisaire Moreau. The château features a neo-medieval style and a very cohesive, complete interior dating from the late 19th century. A visit to Château de Coubon also includes the chapel and the English park.

High above Coubon, Château de Bouzols is one of the oldest castle complexes in Velay.

Nature

The Vallée de Magnore was officially recognised as an Espace Naturel Sensible in November 2018 by the municipalities of Coubon and Lantriac and the Haute-Loire département. It is exceptionally rich in biodiversity, which is nevertheless under threat.

The remains of the Prieuré Saint-Maurice de Magnore on Mont Saint-Maurice include scattered ruins, a cistern, sarcophagi and graves carved into the rock.

The Trou du Soleil is an arch-shaped rock formation, deeply hollowed out in the middle, on the eastern flank of Mont Saint-Maurice, 200 metres above the road from Coubon to Orzilhac.

The Étang du Lauzet covers 8.29 hectares, or exactly 82,875 m², and consists of a pond, meadows and wooded areas.

Trails

The Via Velay connects Le Puy-en-Velay and Landos and passes through Coubon. Its fine, compacted gravel surface is suitable for walking, easy to ride on with VTC bicycles and suitable for wheelchair users.

The PR540 Le Rond de l'Ange includes a viewpoint overlooking the Loire and the Rond de l'Ange meander. The PR540 Le Rond de l'Ange also offers views of the Massif du Meygal.
