History and Architectural Heritage

At the Château de Veyrières, the façades and roofs, the staircase with its entrance corridor, the former kitchen's fireplace and the painted ceiling of the first floor of the keep are protected as parts of a historic monument under a listing order dated 30 October 1987. The keep itself dates from the 13th and 14th centuries and was modified in the 15th century, including through the addition of four corner towers.

The parish church of Sansac-de-Marmiesse was built in the 14th century. The Pont vieux in Les Escures was officially crossed for the first time by a horse-drawn vehicle after its final acceptance on 10 May 1813. The Pont vieux is a place for walks and relaxation.

Trails and Activities

The Sansac Bords de Cère hiking trail in Sansac-de-Marmiesse is 10 kilometres long. The “Ytrac-Sansac-de-Marmiesse (VTT4)” mountain-bike route measures 8.5 kilometres. The Golf de Haute Auvergne in Sansac-de-Marmiesse has an 18-hole course.

The Sentier de la pierre begins next to the Maison du bâti in Sansac-de-Marmiesse. The trail leads towards a group of basalt columns and, along the route to the river, to large blocks of stone.
