Saint-Gérons: Holiday Apartments and Houses
The Lac de Saint-Étienne-Cantalès is 13 km long, the second-largest artificial lake in the Auvergne, covers 563 hectares and fills the former Cère valley. The 124-metre-long Himalayan suspension bridge crosses the lake, connecting the beaches of Espinet and Rénac. It is accessible free of charge every day all year round.
When planning their accommodation, some travellers are particularly keen to rent a holiday apartment in Saint-Gérons.
Nature
The circular trail Tour de la presqu'île de Rénac runs along the shore of Lac de Saint-Étienne-Cantalès and offers beautiful views of the lake, the rocks and the EDF dam. Along the trail, hikers are likely to see waterfowl, black kites or cormorants.
Activities
The Tyro-Lac course at Rénac Aventure includes two zip lines, each more than 135 metres long, crossing the lake. Also located on the peninsula at Lac de Saint-Étienne-Cantalès, Rénac Aventure offers ten treetop adventure courses with a total of 140 activities for children and adults at least 90 cm tall.
At Lac de Saint-Étienne-Cantalès, visitors can enjoy jet skiing, beach volleyball and supervised swimming. Rénac beach has a marina, a snack bar and water sports facilities. Rénacland offers the rental of four-person pedal boats with or without a slide, individual and shared-use stand-up paddleboards for up to eight people, two-seater canoes and kayaks, jet skis requiring a licence, and boats requiring or not requiring a licence.
Culture and History
The Saint-Étienne-Cantalès dam was inaugurated in 1945; this fundamentally changed the appearance of the municipality of Saint-Gérons.
The church of Saint-Gérons was formerly a priory church. It has preserved its original layout, with a transversely rectangular nave, an attached bell-tower porch and a straight-ended chancel. The church contains a 17th-century high altar reredos with a statue of Saint Gérons, which can still be admired there today.
