The former Notre-Dame de l’Assomption Abbey includes a Romanesque parish church with a nave, two aisles, a transept and three apses with domed vaults. History
Montsalvy’s medieval origins are linked to the monk Gausbert, who founded a church, a hospice and a monastery in the 11th century and created a sauveté with four crosses.

The Puy de l’Arbre hill is located in the immediate surroundings of Montsalvy. A few hundred metres from it, a fitness trail runs through Montsalvy’s municipal forest and includes benches and picnic tables; it is used both by people engaging in sports and by picnickers. The Puy de l’Arbre offers a panoramic view, open to the southwest, over a large part of nearby Aveyron; the Cévennes, Aubrac and the Monts du Cantal lie on the horizon.

Activities
The Montsalvy–Riols hiking trail is a 19-kilometre circular route with 707 metres of elevation gain that starts at the Place du Foirail; the estimated duration is 330 minutes.
Fishing for trout, carp and coarse fish is possible at the Plan d'eau du Moulinier; a fishing licence is required for this. A circuit around the Plan d'eau du Moulinier takes approximately 15 minutes; there is also a picnic area there.
