Lanobre borders part of the Bort-les-Orgues Reservoir, which the municipality describes as the largest hydroelectric reservoir in the region.

Culture
The Chapelle Saint-Blaise houses a permanent exhibition about the construction of the EDF dam. Lanobre’s church, dedicated to Saint James the Greater, was built in the 12th century.
Château de Val is located in Lanobre in the Cantal and is one of the best-preserved and most remarkable historical monuments. It stands on a rock more than 30 metres high and is now located on a small peninsula on the shore of the lake.
Visits and Events
The exterior tour of Château de Val includes the main courtyard, the chapel and the exhibition room. The tour is not accessible to wheelchair users or pushchairs. Château de Val also offers self-guided tours and guided tours of the interiors.
The Festives’Val, also known as “Les mercredis du Château”, feature various concerts, aperitif concerts and performances in the main courtyard of Château de Val in July and August.
Nature
The Site du Fraysse is a freely accessible viewpoint in Lanobre open all year round, offering panoramic views as well as an orientation table and a picnic table. Puy du Fraysse is one of the volcanic remnants of Sumène-Artense.
Water Activities
Val Aventure offers treetop courses in a three-hectare forest above Château de Val and the Bort-les-Orgues Reservoir. The facility has four newly built courses suitable for families with children aged four and over.
Parc Aqualoisirs Auvergne at Plage de Val in Lanobre offers water games, an inflatable water park, canoe and pedal boat hire, stand-up paddleboards, and motorboats with or without a licence. The water games are open in July and August when weather conditions are suitable.
There is also a canoeing, kayaking and rowing centre at Plage de Val. During the summer season in July and August, Plage de Val is supervised by a lifeguard.
