The Benoîterie of Bascassan, meaning the house of the benoîte, is located directly next to the Church of Saint-André, referred to as a chapel, and its cemetery. Marie Cadiou is considered the last benoîte in the Basque Country; she lived in the Benoîterie of Bascassan until her death in 1991.
