Pontiacq-Viellepinte: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes
Pontiacq-Viellepinte combines historic buildings with a hiking trail at Lac du Louet and the landscape of Poey de Maure. In the village of Pontiacq stands the Château de Minvielle, a 19th-century building with older features such as moats. The Château de Pontiacq and the churches Église Saint-Pierre and Église Saint-Paul also provide the area with distinctive historical landmarks.
Culture and History
The choir of the Église Saint-Pierre contains an altarpiece. The church was looted and severely damaged during the Wars of Religion in 1569, rebuilt from the 17th century onward, and subsequently restored in 1744, 1860, and 1895. The currently existing paneled vault was installed in 1895. The Église Saint-Pierre is also connected with the neighboring Château de Pontiacq.
The Château de Pontiacq was built on an old feudal motte. From the 15th century onward, the original fortified complex was the residence of the lords of “Ponteac.” The Château de Pontiacq is privately owned today.
The Église Saint-Paul also reflects a long history: in the Middle Ages, it was affiliated with the Caubin and Morlaàs commandery. After the Wars of Religion, it was restored several times between the 16th and 20th centuries.
Hiking and Water
Boucle No. 15 is a moderately difficult circular hike covering 10.5 kilometers, with a stated duration of 2 hours. The route descends to Lac du Louet, crosses its dam, and then returns to the D 202 road. The Église Saint-Paul is the third waypoint on Boucle No. 15.
