Culture and History

The grounds of Château Saint-Loup include a park, a chapel, a dovecote, a well and an orangery. The parish church of Saint-Loup also bears witness to the long history of the area: it was built in the 12th century on the site of an ancient villa. According to G. Tholin, it was initially preceded by an oratory.

The Church of Notre-Dame de Montagnac-sur-Auvignon is listed as a historic monument. The former church on the Saint-Loup grounds was demolished. For the Baron de Saint-Loup, the stonemason Vidal built a chapel based on plans by the departmental architect Teulère; Monseigneur Fonteneau, Bishop of Agen, consecrated it in 1877.

The circular route “Montagnac, petite montagne d’Albret – Circuit n°297” begins at Place de Frères Tolot. The stated duration is 2 hours 30 minutes on foot, 1 hour 15 minutes on horseback or 55 minutes by mountain bike. The Hountagnou washhouse is located along the circular route.

The square tower spire can be climbed and offers a 360-degree panorama.

Wine

Domaine de Versailles is an independent wine estate with direct sales of Buzet wine from the farm. The vineyard covers 7 hectares on gravelly slopes. Guided tours are available exclusively by appointment; five products are tasted during the tour.
