Culture and history

The Château de Talives was built in the 15th century and originally designed for defence. In the 18th century, it was remodelled to make it more comfortable.

The Église Saint Sernin (Saturnin) d’Artigues was built on a hilltop in the 12th century. The Église Saint Martin du Caoulet was rebuilt in the 15th century. The choir of the Église Saint Jean Baptiste de Monbran was also built in the 12th century.

The Fontaine des Voleurs spring is known by its Latin name, “FONS LATRONUM”.

The ruins of the Abbaye de Pérignac are located in the vicinity of Foulayronnes. The Cathédrale Saint-Caprais and the “Archives départementales do Lot-et-Garonne” are also nearby.

Nature and landscape

The Site de Flottis is a natural depression where clay emerges at the surface. Historically, the clay was extracted there and processed into roof tiles.

Lac de Talives was created in 1984 at the foot of the Château de Talives of the same name and covers 14 hectares.

Paths and circular walks

The GR 652 begins at the church of Monbran and crosses the valleys of the Ségone and its small tributary Ridounel twice.

The “Les ailes du moulin de Talives” route begins at the car park below a recently restored windmill.

The “Circuit du lac de Talives” circular route begins on the shore of the lake and has very steep climbs.
