Hinx: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hinx overlooks the Adour, which borders the town to the north. To the south, Hinx has a sun-drenched slope facing the Pyrenees.

Nature and waterways

The Port de Hinx is now designed as a recreational area. In the past, it was an inland port on the Adour, shipping wine barrels by gabaras as far as Bayonne. The Port de Hinx was also the landing place for a ferry that enabled farmers to reach the right bank. The last metal ferry, dating from 1970, can still be seen on the banks of the Port de Hinx.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Pierre was built in the 13th century and preserves numerous elements from the 13th and 14th centuries. Its surviving furnishings include three marble altars and a crucifix made of orange wood. It also has a 16th-century entrance-tower porch.

The Château de Castéra dates back to the 13th century and has been listed as a monument historique since 1970. The Château de Castéra is privately owned and cannot be visited.

Paths

The Voie Verte de Chalosse is a former railway line that has been converted into a walking path from Hinx to Augreilh in the western district of Saint-Sever. The Voie Verte de Chalosse is used for walking.

Events

At the Fêtes de Hinx 2026, a Course Landaise with Ganaderia Nogues was scheduled, accompanied by Los Campesinos and the Boléro Hinxois.
