Plage de la Digue is characterised by a 1 km-long concrete wall. It protects the Adour estuary and provides access to the commercial port; from there, the view extends along the Landes coast as far as the Basque Country. To facilitate accessible bathing, the beach bears the « Handiplage» label and has a special access mat and a « tiralo».

Nature
The Zone humide du Métro covers 204 ha, lies on the Atlantic coast and consists of inland dunes, woodland edges, mixed forests and wetlands; part of the zone is classified as a ZNIEFF.
The dune at Plage du Métro is designated as a Natura 2000 site and remains undeveloped, apart from a car park for beachgoers. Plage du Métro has preserved its wild character and offers views of the Basque mountains. Nearby, there is seasonal bus service operated by the TxikTxak network, bicycle parking and a surf school.
Domaine de Castillon is a place for relaxation and discovery for walkers and anglers in a natural setting rich in wildlife. A 22-hectare pond in Tarnos is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including predatory fish and rare protected birds.
Culture
The Church of Saint Vincent features Romanesque and fortified elements; its 15th-century chancel frescoes were added to the inventory of Monuments historiques in 1971.
The restored Église Notre-Dame-des-Forges was inaugurated in September 2008 and serves as a venue for performances, exhibitions, educational activities and cultural events.
The Cité des Forges has been listed as a Zone de Protection du Patrimoine Architectural, Urbain et Paysager (ZPPAUP) since 2006 and provides visible evidence of Tarnos's industrial history.
Trails
The coastal route of the Way of Saint James reaches Tarnos and largely runs together with La Vélodyssée there.
