Culture and history

The Romanesque Eglise Saint-Valéry, dating from the 14th century, houses a wooden statue of Saint Valéry from the 15th century.

The Eglise Saint-Valéry also has a two-arched bell tower, which was restored in the 17th century.

The Château de Boisseuilh was built on the foundations of a 13th-century building.

The Fontaine Saint-Valéry is located about 50 metres from the Eglise Saint-Valéry and is dedicated to Saint Valéry. It is not accessible to the public.

According to local tradition, the water of the Fontaine Saint-Valéry was believed to cure eye ailments.

The Chapelle Saint-Roch in Boisseuilh was historically located very close to the Eglise Saint-Valéry and had long belonged to the Martin family.

Agnès-Lucie Auguste was born in Paris in 1761, married the Vicomte Charles de Boysseulh, écuyer du roi, in 1777, and lived for part of her life at the Château de Boisseuilh in the Périgord.

The railway archaeology trail at the Tunnel de Boisseuilh reveals the remains of the former Saint-Aulaire–Hautefort railway line.

Nature

The Boucle de l'ancienne voie ferrée starts in Boisseuilh. It is an easy 6.3-kilometre circular walk focused on nature, including fauna and flora.
