The church of Soulaures is a building dating from the 12th century; its oldest part is Romanesque, while the more recent part is Gothic. Wall paintings were discovered in the church that had previously been hidden beneath plaster and, according to their description, show Italian influences.
Culture and history
In the vicinity of Soulaures, the collegiate church of Capdrot was elevated to the status of a collegiate church in 1318 by a papal decision. Since the 11th century, it had been a favoured pilgrimage destination associated with the Black Madonna.
The Menhir de Pech Decunt is also located in the surrounding area. Three pieces of it have survived, including the base. The menhir is a broken menhir made of very hard, iron-rich sandstone from the region.
Access to the Menhir de Pech Decunt is via an agricultural track along the municipal boundary, followed by a few metres along an old path overgrown with vegetation, leading back to Cabirol.
The church of Soulaures is part of a cultural heritage trail featuring three chapels and churches in the Pays de Bergerac. It is also one of the sites in the Périgord selected for a special study of wall paintings.

Culinary delights
The Ferme Ferracin in Soulaures sells beef and veal, as well as fresh or preserved wild boar products. Visits to the farm are possible by appointment.
In summer, the Ferme Ferracin offers barbecues featuring meat produced on the farm, available by reservation. Also available by reservation is a small tasting featuring regional specialities and a drink.
