Holiday apartment in Holešov: Castle, culture and cycle paths

Holešov combines historic buildings, signposted routes and an extensive ensemble surrounding the castle and castle park. Its cultural history is particularly concentrated in the self-guided heritage tour, in Baroque and Renaissance buildings, and in tours of former craft workshops and manor rooms. There are also cycling and hiking trails connecting Holešov with places in the wider surrounding area.

Culture

The Holešov urban heritage tour is marked with a yellow-and-white square and can be completed independently without a guide. The tour can be followed on an interactive city map. A prominent historic building is the three-nave Baroque Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It stands on the site of a smaller Gothic church dating from around the 14th century; the present church building was completed in 1708.

A guided tour of Holešov Castle includes the Sala terrena with its rich stucco decoration and frescoes, the large ballroom, the castle chapel and the manor room. Other historic halls serve as the castle gallery and display exhibitions by renowned Czech and foreign artists. The castle park also brings together historical and design elements. Its so-called Rose Garden contains a monument to the composer F. X. Richtr and an observatory. Getting around

A red-marked hiking trail passes through Holešov. For cycling trips, the 27-kilometre cycle route No. 5036 starts here. At Holajka, it branches off from cycle route No. 5033 and runs through Přílepy, Lukoveček, Fryšták, Lešná, Štípa, Hvozdná and Slušovice, ending in Dešná, where it connects to long-distance cycle route No. 46. Route No. 5036 runs along paved paths for its entire length, mostly on third-class roads, and is suitable for all types of bicycles.

The 55-kilometre cycle route No. 5033 begins in Kroměříž and runs via Hulín, Pravčice, Količín and Holešov, which it reaches at kilometre 18. Its endpoint is in Hustopeče nad Bečvou. This means that two cycle routes with different routes are centred in Holešov: one passes through the town as part of a longer connection, while the other starts here and continues through several places until it connects to a long-distance cycle route.

Events

The 14th Holešovská Regata is a popular music festival for the whole family. It takes place on 19 and 20 June 2026 in the gardens of Holešov Castle and offers music as well as a varied programme of accompanying activities for visitors of all ages.
