Bezměrov is a place where its riverside location and long history meet in a confined space. The Haná River flows directly through Bezměrov, which lies on the right bank. The Haná is therefore directly connected with Bezměrov. At the same time, Bezměrov preserves traces that reach far back into the past.

History

Bezměrov was first mentioned in 1078 in a deed of foundation issued by Otto I, the Olomouc prince, for Hradisko Monastery near Olomouc. The place is considered one of the oldest Slavic settlements. An old trade route from the southern to the northern countries also ran near Bezměrov. An even older insight is provided by the “Přední hony” field near Bezměrov: part of a Neolithic settlement of the culture with Moravian painted ceramics was identified there.

Culture

The cultural centre in Bezměrov hosts public and private social events. The Bezměrov bell tower, reconstructed in 2017, is also part of the village’s appearance. Inside hangs the bell of St. John from 1919. Thus, the village combines a contemporary meeting place with a tangible historical testimony.

Nature

The Morava–Chropyňský luh European protected area lies north of the cadastral territory of Bezměrov. Smaller bodies of water are also part of the surroundings: Dombas Pond is located about 1 kilometre from Bezměrov and offers sport fishing on a “catch and release” basis.

Hiking and cycling

A circular hiking route from Bezměrov to Hradisko starts in Bezměrov, is approximately 6.5 kilometres long and is recommended for cyclists and tourists. Another connection is provided by the Cyril and Methodius hiking route. It crosses the bridge in Bezměrov; after the bridge, it follows the Morava River. The Morava river area can be observed from the bridge. Donbas Pond is located about 200 metres beyond the bridge and is suitable for resting and fishing.

Getting there

Bezměrov can be reached by bus and train. Thus, alongside the routes through the riverside and cultural landscape, public transport access is also identified as a concrete feature of the place.
