Svetlá Nad Sázavou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The château in Světlá nad Sázavou opened its gates to the general public for the first time in its history in 2014. The first written mention of the Church of St. Wenceslas is found in a document issued by its patron, Abbot Jaroslav II of Vilémov, dated 13 July 1318; at that time, it was a single-nave Early Gothic building in the shape of a cross.

Culture

Since summer 2007, the Muzeum Světelska has been located in the eastern Baroque wing of the château. It documents the history of the town, the château, the noble families and the surrounding area. The exhibition presents glassmaking and stonemasonry as two of the most important sources of livelihood for the local population.

Location and surroundings

The Světelský Park covers approximately 16 hectares and was probably established by Count František Josef Salm-Reifferscheidt during extensive construction and renovation work in 1871. Its romantic structures and features include pavilions, stone stairways, the Čertův most, an alpine garden and ponds with water lilies. The town maintains Světelský Park for visitors from the town as well as from the nearby and wider surrounding area.

Melechov, which is considered a mountain, lies in the vicinity of Světlá nad Sázavou. Ostojovka [Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř], which is considered a mountain, is also located in the vicinity. In the immediate surroundings lies (Na Podsečí) [Nová Ves u Světlé nad Sázavou], which is considered a hill. In the wider regional area are Orlík, which is considered a ruin, Špičák, which is considered a mountain, Želivský Kláštor, which is considered a monastery, and Svatá Anna, which is considered a church.

Activities

Bohemia Machine offers factory tours on weekdays from January to December by prior arrangement; by prior arrangement, these can also be conducted in English, German or French.

The Světlá nad Sázavou–Ledeč nad Sázavou cycle path is part of the interregional Posázavská Cycle Route No. 19 and is said to be more than 12 kilometres long.
