Pohled: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pohled tells its story in very different forms: in churches and a chapel, in the memory of rural life, and along an educational trail. Those who read the town through its tangible testimonies encounter both sacred architecture and the history of everyday life.

Buildings and History

Today's Church of St. Andrew goes back to the convent church originally dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, whose foundation stone was laid in 1265. The early Gothic building was modified after its destruction during the Hussite Wars in 1422. The 23-metre-high nave is spanned by a brick net vault with ribs made of red sandstone.

The Proboštství–Fara building in Pohled was erected in 1714 based on a design by the master builder Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel. Another facet of the town's history is shown by the Selské muzeum Michalův statek: it illustrates the life, work and customs of a middle-class farmer in the period from after the Thirty Years' War until the abolition of compulsory labour in 1848. After its reconstruction, the entire complex was declared a cultural monument; ten years later, it became a national cultural monument.

Sacred Sites and Family History

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary includes the crypt of the Silva-Tarouca Unwerth family. The chapel was built in 1840 by Count Evžen Silva-Tarouca Unwerth. The five coffins in the crypt can still be seen through windows opening onto the crypt. Since 2010, the chapel has been listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic.

The origins of the Svatá Anna pilgrimage site near Pohled date back to the 18th century. A Rococo church was built at the pilgrimage site in 1760 and consecrated in 1761. A spring was discovered during the construction of the chapel at the Svatá Anna pilgrimage site.

Educational Trail

The Karel Havlíček Borovský educational trail is accessible year-round, suitable for hiking and mountain biking, and leads as far as Pohled.
