Státní hrad Lipnice offers a free tour of monumental medieval architecture with unique views of the surrounding landscape.
Culture and History
Haškova Lipnice has taken place in the open-air amphitheatre below the castle since 1959. At the Folková Lipnice festival, which was officially called “Písní za mír” at the time, the playwright and dissident Václav Havel delivered his first public address there in more than 19 years on 3 September 1988.
The Jaroslav Hašek Memorial is a small exhibition in the writer’s house about his life and work. At the “Kování na Lipnici 26” event, visitors can watch stonemasons and stone sculptors at work in front of the castle.
Trails and Landscape
The short, signposted route “Městskou branou k hrobu Jaroslava Haška” leads from the square in Lipnice past the ruins of the town gate, the ruins of Bílá věž, the Chapel of St. Antonín and the old cemetery with the grave of the writer Jaroslav Hašek.
In the vicinity of Lipnice nad Sázavou, there are old, water-filled granite quarries with sculptures. Bretschneiderovo ucho is part of the Národní památník odposlechu in these old, water-filled granite quarries near Lipnice. The route “Okolo zatopených lomů k Hlavě XXII.” is signposted from the square in Lipnice, where an orientation map is also located. A well-marked trail connects the artworks of the Národní památník odposlechu.
