Kyjov: Apartments and Holiday Homes

The area around Kyjov is characterized by extensive meadows, numerous forests, and several ponds. The forests consist predominantly of spruce trees; the ponds are important landscape-defining elements.

History

The first written mention of Kyjov dates back to 1351. The settlement was probably founded during the large-scale colonization of the surrounding landscape after around 1250.

Nature

In the immediate vicinity of Kyjov, about four kilometers to the north in the surrounding forests, lies the ruin of Ronovec Castle. A pond near Kyjov serves as a natural swimming area.

Kyjov is one of the municipalities affected by the section of the Břevnický potok from Břevnice to its confluence with the Sázava near Havlíčkův Brod, where a large population of bullhead occurs.

Geographical Setting

Břevnice railway station is located about 800 meters from Kyjov on the Havlíčkův Brod–Pardubice railway line.

The 56-kilometer circular cycle route from Havlíčkův Brod to Chotěboř and back passes through Kyjov. The route runs along forest and field paths as well as paved sections.

Community and Leisure

Kyjovská drakiáda is a local kite-flying event held repeatedly and organized by the volunteer fire brigade association of the municipality of Kyjov. Kyjovská olympiáda is a children's sports event held repeatedly as part of Children's Day in Kyjov.

Kyjov has a playground for small children as well as a multifunctional playground that is used not only by local residents. In addition, a Children's Day event featuring a neighborhood gathering was organized in Kyjov by the municipality together with the local volunteer fire brigade association.
