Rudolec: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Rudolec is home to an exceptional architectural feature in the form of its medieval fortress: it has been completely preserved in the north wing of the chateau. Massive walls and four vaulted rooms characterize the surviving structure.

Culture and History

Rudolec Chateau is currently privately owned and falling into disrepair. The medieval fortress continues to serve as the seat of the estate administration and the owner's main residence.

The Chapel of Saint Anne was completed in the summer of 1998 and consecrated during a pilgrimage Mass on 26 July 1998. The only surviving element of its original furnishings is a painting of Saint Anne. A year after the consecration, a new bell was installed in the chapel tower.

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands above Rudolec. It dates from the late 18th century, is located on the road toward Jihlava, and stands at an elevation of 674 m above sea level.

Nature

The Olšinský rybník pond in Rudolec, together with other ponds in the vicinity of Bohdalov, belongs to the Bohdalovsko Nature Park.

The Rybníky u Rudolce area comprises ponds with rare vegetation typical of ponds that periodically dry out, as well as adjacent wetland and peatland habitats. Notable plant species occur there, particularly slender naiad (Coleanthus subtilis), as well as amphibians.

Hiking and Views

A blue-marked hiking trail passes through Rudolec and runs along the Blažkov ridge. From Blažkov, there are views of the Moravian and Bohemian sides of the Žďárské vrchy.

Vyhlídka nad Rudolcem offers views of Rudolec Chateau, Bohdalov, and the Žďárské vrchy. A blue-marked hiking trail passes by Vyhlídka nad Rudolcem and runs along the ridge of the Arnolecké hory.
