Polnička: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Polnička combines protected landscapes, local history, and special recreational attractions. A paved Cyklostezka Žďár nad Sázavou – Polnička cycle path runs between Žďár nad Sázavou and Polnička. The municipality of Polnička includes the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area and the Pod Kamenným vrchem Nature Reserve.

Nature

The Pod Kamenným vrchem Nature Reserve comprises an extensive complex of meadows with a mosaic of marsh communities, wet meadows, and meadowsweet stands. This transitions into wetlands with sedge stands and secondary reed beds around a pond.

Leisure and Events

Salón Expres Vagón Polnička is an open-air amusement park with a children’s railway, bumper cars, a cableway, and all-terrain quad bikes. The children’s railway runs on a 300-metre narrow-gauge railway. Salón Expres Vagón Polnička began operating in 1993, after a decommissioned railway carriage was converted into a restaurant.

The Silvestrovský běh on historic skis takes place annually in Polnička as a ski race for children and adults. The Polničský masopust takes place annually in Polnička as a masked procession through the village. The Jarní jarmark takes place annually as a craft event.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Guardian Angel with its tower is the dominant building on Polnička’s village square. It was built in 1902–1903 according to plans by the builder František Křelina from Žďár.

Two furnaces from the former ironworks in Polnička were located at the present-day house numbers 114 and 163–165.
