Around Okřešice, several cycling routes, a traditional village structure and protected natural features come together. Between rolling landscapes, historic traces and the water reservoir in the village green, the village presents a diverse character.

Cycling Routes and Landscape

The “Through the Třebíčsko Nature Park” route follows Cycle Route 5214 towards Okřešice; on this route, Okřešice is the eighth stop. Another route runs from Třebíč via Okřešice, Horní Vilémovice, Rudíkov, Nárameč, Kojatín and Pozďatín to Studenecký rybník. Cycle Route 5214 also runs via Račerovice to Sokolí.

The 50-kilometre tour “For Pasque Flowers and to Velký Javor” also reaches the road to Okřešice. In the wider regional surroundings of Okřešice, the route passes the approximately 650-year-old maple above Velký Javor and then continues towards Čechtín. The northern, south-western and western fringes of the Okřešice area rise into rolling landscapes.

Nature and Water

One of the special natural features is Lípa u Vantiberku: a small-leaved lime tree (Tilia cordata) near an agricultural building in the Vantiberk locality, within the cadastral area of Okřešice u Třebíče. The tree is protected and was first placed under protection on 28 October 1982. Its trunk circumference is 417 centimetres and its height is 24 metres. Okřešice is also home to a group of protected trees.

A water reservoir lies in the middle of the Okřešice village green and allows recreational bathing.

History and Village Character

The first written mention of Okřešice dates from 1556. The village’s origins are connected with the Benedictines of Třebíč and the vanished settlement of Křižanov. This historical influence is reflected in the village’s traditional buildings, consisting mainly of farmsteads arranged in a horseshoe shape and open towards the east.

Religious Heritage

The Chapel of Saint Anthony of Padua in Okřešice is also part of the village’s history. It was built in 1910 and received a new bell in 1969. Images of saints have also been preserved near Okřešice along field paths and in the fields.
