Knínice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Knínice lies in the southeastern part of the Brtnická vrchovina highlands. To the east, its cadastral area extends from the Želetavka Valley to the ridge of the Slatinské kopce hills. The Prokopka stream flows through Knínice.

Landscape

Several elevations classified as mountains are located around Knínice: Špičák, Modrácký kopec, Rudný and U Obrázku. Their names are part of the surrounding landscape, as are the various geographical reference points between the valley and the ridge.

Culture and sacred sites

The Chapel of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Knínice is a notable regional example of a sacred space and architectural heritage associated with the veneration of the Jesuit saint Francis Xavier. The prayer book “Decas SS. Stationum” was published for devotion at the ten stations of the Knínice Way of the Cross.

U Svaté Magdalena, a church, is located in the immediate vicinity of Knínice. The surrounding area also includes U Svatého Křiže and Svatá Markéta, each a church. In the wider regional area around Knínice lies Roštejn [Doupě], a castle.

Pond and pilgrimage route

Husinec Pond is one of the two ponds still preserved in Knínice today and is suitable for swimming. The Apostolská (Knínická) desítka pilgrimage route is approximately 6 kilometres long and includes ten chapels.
