Krasonice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Krasonice Castle is located in the centre of the village, near the Church of Saint Lawrence. It is privately owned. It presumably stands on the site of an earlier fortress mentioned in sources dating from 1353. In 1630, the former fortress was converted into the late Renaissance, single-storey Krasonice Castle, with an irregular courtyard and arcades on the ground floor.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Lawrence in Krasonice is documented as early as 1311. It acquired its present Baroque appearance around 1771. A large painting of Saint Lawrence hangs above the marble high altar.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary stands on Humberk, a Neo-Gothic building with windows decorated with stained glass. The chapel has a slender, 22-metre-high tower with three harmonised bells. It was built in 1664 in gratitude for the healing of Karel Maximilián Thurn's diseased eyes. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was also blessed in Krasonice on 18 June 1720.

Paths and Landscape

The Březina Trail runs through Krasonice and connects places associated with the poet Otokar Březina. It is 55 to 60 kilometres long and runs along roads, dirt tracks and footpaths. Its climbs are considered not particularly demanding.

The landscape of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands around Krasonice invites visitors to go hiking and cycling. Maškův mlýn is located in the vicinity of Krasonice on the Želetavka; next to the mill there are a pond and a weir. In the past, Maškův mlýn had its own sawmill and lime works.
