History

Later, the castle underwent Neoclassical alterations. The approximately square inner courtyard of the castle is accessed through a passageway in the south wing. On the ground floor, arcades run along three sides of the inner courtyard. These architectural details in particular make the complex legible from different perspectives, without any one period determining the entire picture.

Culture

Around 80 restored gravestones stand in the Jewish cemetery of Puklice, mostly made of granite and partly of marble and sandstone. The last burial in the Jewish cemetery took place in 1932. Another historical reference leads back to 1722: at that time, Puklice had a synagogue in an attic room above a living room in House No. 35; the room had Baroque vaults. The cemetery, gravestones and former sacred space thus combine visible evidence with a history that can also be understood through uses that are no longer preserved.

The sacred buildings include the single-nave Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Puklice. It was created between 1946 and 1948 by converting a former farm barn. The tower of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands above the main entrance on the south side. The village square also features a Neoclassical chapel built in 1846, considered an example of the creative adoption of late Baroque elements in vernacular sacred architecture. A late Baroque central chapel with a hexagonal floor plan stands in the open countryside on the road to Studénky near Puklice. The different building purposes and forms offer you several distinct points of reference for viewing the locality from a cultural perspective.

Hiking

A relocated, yellow-marked section of the Jihlavský okruh hiking trail runs between Puklice and Holý vrch outside Studénky and is 3.5 kilometres long. The Jihlavský okruh follows a section near Puklice; the places along the circular route are connected by public transport, rail or bus services.
