About 500 metres west of Vanov lies Pastvina u Vanova, a significant landscape feature. Pastvina u Vanova is a wet meadow with important endangered plant species and also an important habitat for vertebrates and invertebrates.

Paths and Activities
The “Cyklostezka Telč - Řásná” cycle path runs through Vanov and is intended for cyclists and pedestrians. The 6 km-long nature trail begins at the drinking fountain in Lipky.
Golf Resort Telč is located between the municipalities of Vanov and Volevčice. It has an 18-hole course covering an area of 70 hectares and is situated in a landscape characterised by forests and ponds.
History and Culture
The Šimkův water mill complex dates from the first half of the 19th century; the Šimkův water mill is located directly below the dam of a pond. The Šiškův mlýn water-powered grain mill in Vanov was built in 1793. Šiškův mlýn used the drop of a small watercourse of about fourteen metres to power water wheels over three levels in cascades.
The Chapel of St Charles Borromeo stands near Vanov on a forest path towards Telč; it was formerly called Olivetská. The “Procházka ke kapli sv. Karla” walking route from Telč to the chapel is 3.5 km long. Near the chapel is the Baroque Kalvárie, a cross with statues of the Virgin Mary, Saint John and Mary Magdalene.
Roštejn Castle [Doupě] is located in the immediate vicinity of Vanov. The ruins of Janštejn and the Church of U Svatého Křiže are located in the vicinity of Vanov; Landštejn Castle is located in the wider regional surroundings of Vanov.
