Telc: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Telč Chateau was built in the second half of the 16th century on the site of a former Gothic castle as a representative residence strongly influenced by the Italian Renaissance. Its original grounds have been uniquely preserved and are complemented by historic interiors. The chateau grounds include a French garden and an extensive English park with an orangery.

Culture and History

The historic centre of Telč developed within an unchanged urban layout. It is bordered by a system of ponds, moats, walls and gates.

Telčské podzemí comprises an accessible 250-metre-long section of interconnected medieval cellars beneath Zachariáše z Hradce Square and part of the chateau grounds. A multimedia exhibition presents the town of Telč, its surroundings and important moments in its development.

The exhibition on the history of rail transport at the railway depot in Telč covers the history of rail transport in the Czech Republic and Austria. Historical railway carriages, technical equipment and other objects from railway history are on display.

The Městská galerie Hasičský dům presents short- and long-term exhibitions of visual art, photography, sculpture, ceramics and works of art from the collections of museums and galleries. Several solo exhibitions are held there each year.

The late Romanesque Tower of the Holy Spirit, dating from the first half of the 13th century, is the oldest surviving historic monument in the town and is 49 metres high.

Nature and Views

In the immediate vicinity of Telč lies Lipky, an avenue protected as a natural monument and used for walks.

In the immediate vicinity of Telč, parts of the walls, the foundations of several buildings and a freestanding wall have been preserved at the Štamberk castle ruins. The ruins are freely accessible.

The Oslednice lookout tower has an observation platform at a height of 31.2 metres. From there, Telč, Roštejn Castle and Javořice Mountain are visible. From the bus and railway station, the route leads to the roundabout; from there, a yellow-marked trail runs 500 metres to the Oslednice lookout tower.

Cycle Route

Cycle route 1113 begins in Telč and leads via Mrákotín to Jindřichův Hradec; it is 44 kilometres long.
