Dolní Lažany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

A notable example of local customs is the traditional Masopust carnival in Dolní Lažany, which includes a masked procession through the village. During the procession, households along the route offered schnapps, carnival doughnuts and other food. The procession ends at the community centre with refreshments and brass-band music.

Culture and Customs

The Lažanský košt was also open to people who did not come from Dolní Lažany. By 19 March 2016, the event had reached its fifth edition. It included tastings of slivovitz and other spirits, goulash, spreads and pastries.

Velikonoční hrkání is a recurring Easter custom in Dolní Lažany. Local men use rattles instead of church bells. Participants also receive a reward on Holy Saturday.

Events

A traditional Hubertova jízda was held in Dolní Lažany for horse enthusiasts. It follows the surrounding paths and meadows. During the Hubertova jízda, roasted sausages and mushroom soup were served as refreshments in a meadow at the edge of the forest.

The Mácův memoriál is a regularly held tournament for amateur teams of three in nohejbal and takes place at the sports field in Dolní Lažany. The traditional Rybářské závody are also held there at the Zámeček pond as a 24-hour angling competition.

A children's relay competition and a nighttime adventure trail were held at the Lažanský Amphitheatre by the pond.

Landscape

The forests of the Babický hřbet in the Rokytnická pahorkatina lie in the vicinity of Dolní Lažany. Edible mushrooms grow there in autumn.
