Srbská Kamenice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Srbská Kamenice lies in the valley of the Kamenice River. Here, you will encounter very different facets of the village amid natural surroundings, local history and signposted trails.

Geographical setting

Srbská Kamenice can be reached by bus from Děčín and Česká Kamenice, and by train from Veselé pod Rabštejnem railway station. The village is also a starting point for visits to České Švýcarsko National Park and the Labské pískovce, České středohoří and Lužické hory Protected Landscape Areas.

Nature

The Arba Nature Reserve is a large meadow in the valley along the Kamenice River. It protects plants and animals associated with meadows and spring areas; Arba is one of the most important wetlands in the region.

History and culture

The present-day Church of Saint Wenceslas in Srbská Kamenice was built between 1772 and 1776, with the foundation stone laid on 15 July 1772. The church contains a valuable Rococo altar. A relief depicting the Coronation of the Virgin Mary, dating from 1701, is also carved into the rock face beside the road below the church.

Traditional half-timbered houses with projecting upper floors document the original development of Srbská Kamenice. Dolský mlýn is also part of the village’s historical heritage: the mill was first mentioned in writing in 1515. It became a popular excursion destination, especially after boat traffic began in the gorge between Srbská Kamenice and Dolský mlýn in 1881.

Trails and experiences

Today, Dolský mlýn can be reached from Srbská Kamenice via a green-marked hiking trail. Depending on your fitness level, there are several options for the return journey to the village.

At the Museum of the Fortifications of Northern Bohemia in Srbská Kamenice, you can learn about the construction of the fortifications and the equipment of the bunkers; examples of the Czechoslovak Army’s armament are also on display. In Srbská Kamenice, a line of light fortifications was built in 1937–1938 to defend the republic against Nazi Germany. It comprises numerous reinforced-concrete bunkers commonly known as “Řopíky”. The line of fortifications can be reached from the U Ferdinanda bus stop in Srbská Kamenice via a blue-marked hiking trail.

Since 1995, music festivals with an extensive programme have been held in Srbská Kamenice in August and September.
