Místo: Baroque Church, Nature and Hasištejn

Místo was founded in the middle of the 16th century, when further mines were opened around Hasištejn, and developed into a mining town. The first historical mention of the mining town dates from 1569. Místo became the center of guilds from the surrounding villages, including cloth makers, tailors, bricklayers, stonemasons, carpenters, wheelwrights and coopers.

History and Culture

At the southeastern edge of the village stands the Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity, built in 1691–1692. It has a single-nave layout with a rectangular nave and a separate, almost rectangular presbytery. The sculptural decoration of its main altar comes from the workshop of the sculptor and woodcarver Jakub Eberle.

The village is home to a Baroque Holy Trinity column dating from 1724. A wayside shrine from the early 16th century stands on the road to Vysoká Jedle. In Místo there is a crucifix on a Corinthian column with reliefs of the Virgin Mary, Saint Sebastian, Saint Rosalia and Saint Roch. It dates from before 1800 and was moved here from Kralupy.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in the Místo district of Vysoká Jedle has been restored and is regularly used for services. Místo is also home to smaller religious monuments that were relocated here from villages destroyed by lignite mining at the Nástup mine.

Nature

Routes and Events

The Prunéřov–Černovice cycling route project includes Místo and is intended to connect directly to the existing Ohře Cycle Route. A low-speed mobility and transport connection is planned for cyclists, families with children and tourists.

The hike “From the birch groves over rocks and waterfalls to Hasištejn” begins in Vysoká Jedle, where visitors can see the Chapel of the Virgin Mary.

Hasištejn is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from June 1 to September 30.
