Mariánské Radčice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mariánské Radčice is a pilgrimage site whose origins are connected with the veneration of the miraculous image of Our Lady of Sorrows and date back to the 13th century. For the pilgrimage site, Abbot Benedikt Littwerich had a new Baroque church, a cloister and a parish built; his successor Hieronymus Besnecker completed them. The foundation stone of the church was laid in 1698.

The Mariánské Radčice pilgrimage complex can be visited Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 15:00 or by prior arrangement.

Culture and Trails

The Radčický okruh is a circular trail through the municipality with information boards; it starts and ends in front of the local "U Davida" inn. One station provides information about the relocated small monuments in Mariánské Radčice and the surrounding area, while another features an information board about the history of the Osek–Mariánské Radčice pilgrimage route. The final station provides information about the history and present of mining around Mariánské Radčice.

In Mariánské Radčice, Cycle Route 3073 connects to Cycle Route 25 and ends after 6.32 km in Loučná, where it connects to Cycle Route 231.

The Osek Monastery and the mountains of Stropnik, Vlčí hora, Bořeň [Bílina-Újezd] and Bouřňák are located in the vicinity of Mariánské Radčice.

History

The former Důl Koh-i-noor II brown coal mine near Mariánské Radčice operated until 2002 and produced more than 52 million tonnes of brown coal. Parts of the Důl Koh-i-noor II operational buildings have been protected as historical monuments since 2002.
