Žim: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The open countryside around Žim can be reached via field and forest paths that connect to the populated part of the municipality. The southern two-thirds of the Žim area lie within the protected zone of the supraregional biocorridor “Stříbrný roh – Milešovka”. Along the southern boundary, the supraregional Milešovka biocentre, number 17, largely follows the area; only small extensions reach into it.

Nature and Trails

Marked cycle route 3009 runs through Žim and connects east of the village at Radejčín with cycle route 3091. Railway line 097 between Lovosice and Teplice v Čechách also runs through the municipality.

History and Churches

Žim is a medieval village of originally Slavic origin situated on an important historic road that crosses the České středohoří. The first documented mention appears in papal tithe records from 1352 to 1391. A historic route ran through Žim across the part of the České středohoří near Milešov and continued towards Velemín and Lovosice.

The parish church of Nalezení sv. Kříže in Žim has been documented since 1357. It was originally built in the Gothic style and remodeled in the Renaissance style in the 16th century; the nave was extended in 1699. No regular services are held in the church, and it is not accessible for people with disabilities.

The Chapel of Panny Marie in Záhoří is located in Žim. No regular services are held there either; the chapel is not accessible for people with disabilities.

Záhoří and the Záhořský rybník

At Záhořský rybník in Žim-Záhoří, visitors can sit on stones by a spring and look out over the České středohoří. The area around the Chapel of Panny Marie in Záhoří was landscaped along a newly reconstructed road; access to the water was also reinforced with gravel. Záhořský rybník was used for swimming on hot summer days. For people without permanent residence, a seasonal fishing permit is valid there from March 1 to December 31.
