Geographical location

Bystřany is situated on the Sviní potok, 2 km southeast of Teplice. The development of Bystřany only began in the second half of the 19th century; as a result of the growth in industrial production, Bystřany became an industrial municipality.

History

The Teplice–Lovosice railway line runs through Bystřany and was built between 1897 and 1900.

Culture

The Evangelical church in the old part of Bystřany dates from the end of the 19th century. The main building of the factory complex of the ETY Bystřany company is an architecturally significant structure in Bystřany.

The three-span stone Mostek Bridge in Bystřany crosses the Bílina. It is a technical monument from the second half of the 18th century in the Baroque style.

The rotunda in the Bystřany cemetery houses the tomb of French soldiers and memorial plaques bearing the names of 22 soldiers.

František Cajthaml was a journalist, the second editor-in-chief of the magazine “Severočeský dělník” and the author of publications on local history.

Activities

The local horse-breeding facility officially became an equestrian club in 2004 under the name JK Bystřany, registered with the Czech Equestrian Federation. JK Bystřany has a 20 × 40 metre sand riding arena and four spacious paddocks.

Cycle route No. 3071 runs through Trmice, Řehlovice, Bystřany and Teplice.

Surroundings

The surroundings of Bystřany include the ruin of Kysperk Castle, the ruin of Sukoslav, Střekov Castle and Osek Monastery. Mount Kloc and Mount Glaberův vrch are also located in the surrounding area.
